All this talk about race got me to thinking about one of the bravest and funniest critiques of American Life that there has ever been, All In The Family. TV is rarely, if ever, this good.
I often wonder if, when younger folks see this stuff on TV in reruns, if they "get it". Do you think they have a frame of reference to understand that Archie was a character, a parody, or do they just think that it's a horribly racist/sexist show?
In one of the finest scenes ever put on Television, Archie hangs out with Sammy Davis Jr. My lord, but it's funny. Archie is one of my favorite TV characters anyway, and Sammy is absolutely hilarious. So is Louise Jefferson.

Now, for some random Archie Bunker fun.
Set to music and with no dialog, a strung-together video called "The Archie Suicides". If only Edith would have stifled. HILARIOUS. Caution, the music gets loud at the very very end.

Now, a silly bit where Archie, Edith, the Jeffersons, Meathead, and Gloria all owe each other money. Good clean fun.
