Evan Bayh thinking of running,

What say you? Reading Barack Obamas book (The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream) right now, and hear he is thinking of running as well.
Thoughts?

Yes, Newt is quite the philosophical libertarian. Is Hermann Goring not available?

"Bayh going to run?"

Yes.

ST wrote:Newt Gingrich.

Nope.

It's going to be Hillary-Bayh on the Dem ticket, and McCain-Guiliani or McCain-Barbour, or possibly McCain-Jeb (to placate the conservatives who dislike McCain). Don't rule out Lugar for Veep -- he would undercut a choice of Bayh or Obama.

Kang doesn't stand a chance. No one likes green monsters or their Klingon namesakes.

Hillary would be as bad a choice as Kerry was. I hope she doesn't let her ego override that fact and takes one for the team and doesn't run.

One thing that Bill Clinton had that Hillary Clinton lacks is charisma. John Kerry has even less charisma than Hillary does, which explains his last-place finish in a poll on the likability of 20 top American political figures. Bill Clinton was someone that you could have a beer with, even if you would not leave him alone with your daughter.

Whether someone is personally likable is 100% irrelevant in terms of qualification to be President, but it does impact whether someone can get elected.

I wouldn't leave my daughter alone with George Bush either, as he would ship her to Iraq to have her ass blown off for his hubris. I think Clinton would be better for her in the long run.

Nobody died when Clinton lied.

All he got was a BJ, good for him!

What "page" of consensual republicans don't understand?

Bayh won't run in 2008

Bayh won't run for president in 2008

By Mary Beth Schneider

Mary.beth.schneider@indystar.com

U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., announced early today he will not be a candidate for president in 2008.

His decision was made public in a statement released to The Indianapolis Star.

"As you know I have been exploring helping the people of my state and our country in a different capacity," he wrote. "After talking with family and friends over the past several days, I have decided that this is not the year for me to run for President and I will not be a candidate for the presidency in 2008.

"It wasn't an easy decision but it was the right one for my family, my friends and my state. I have always prided myself on putting my public responsibilities ahead of my own ambitions."

He conceded the odds were against him, describing himself as a "relatively unknown candidate."

You do understand that personal character is different from public policy, right? Do you honestly think most people would not trust George W. Bush to be alone with their daughters over Bill Clinton?

No, because as Chocolate Covered Duck said in another thread, with you the urinating contest never ends.

Wow. How many cliche's can you put into one post?

How many Americans have died because of the Muslim anger that Clinton kindled when he bombed an aspirin factory on poor intelligence to get Monica Lewinsky off the front page?

ST, maybe if you did NOT lift your leg at every rhetorical fire hydrant your rant regarding my pissing contest could be credible.

With Bush an Iraq, personal needs and policy needs meshed to the destructin of 1000s young Americans, including people's daughters. And with what female still under parental responsibility are you alleging bill clinton was inappropriate? Save that bullshit for your tiny circle of fellow travellers.

EDIT --"NOT lift" " not "left"

I hate to say it, but maybe this is not the time for Bayh to run. I would love to see him go for it, but I think there are plenty of strong names out there, and maybe there are other ways for him to become more of a household name.

I'd like to see Obama run, myself..
