What's the story behind the "Quick Reply" button appearing at the bottom of some postings?
Never saw it before this week. Or ... never noticed!

I see it some threads, but not others (this one, for instance). I just noticed it too.

Found it.
Quick Reply just opens a window directly under the button for you to enter your reply to the post rather than a separate page. It does not have any of the formatting buttons you find on the "Full Editor".

Not to be obtuse, MG, but from whence doth it cometh?
Gotta admit I did the same thing you did and analyzed its behavior but could find no hint to how it appears on some threads (or postings?) and not others.
And I have no idea why I care!
BTW, thanks to all you guys (MG, C and FW -- anyone I'm missing?) for the work on this resource.

Father Wrath or Curm would know better than I would, I am just a young padawan and they are the jedi masters. I wish they wouldn't use the shock collar on me so much...

The 'Quick Reply' is an administrative option that is set when forums are created. I'm not sure if it was always available. It may have been added as part of a forum software upgrade.
I know that with a few of the new forums I have set up, I've checked the box to allow Quick Reply. We should probably be consistent across all the forums.
