Sustainable Living Problems

Postby kjk » Mon May 18, 2009 11:21 am

OK, so I've gone to the effort of recycling, reusing, and renewing (except for my AARP Subscription. I'm tired of seeing nothing but old people on the cover of their magazine). I've changed all the lightbulbs to the most modern fluorescents. I've added some solar lighting as well, along with a solar clothes dryer and timekeeping device.

Problem is, the sun went out last night, and none of those last 2 items worked at all. I had to reset the clock this morning, to boot. Were the Romans not aware of DST?

I hope you dispose of those bulbs properly! They contain mercury, and somewhere down the road, people are going to be overjoyed when they figure out how much mercury has been released into our landfills and groundwater.

Just get regular old bulbs.

I make sure my bulbs don't go into landfills. I usually put them in a McDonald's Bag and toss them on the side of the road, out in the country.

Hell, I throw mine at the invalid or kids at the playground.
