Alien vs. Predator 2

Postby ST » Sun May 04, 2008 10:07 pm

I liked the first one, but AvP 2 (which takes place immediately following the events of the first one) just didn't feel like it belongs in the series. As I said 4 years ago, this series should be set in the distant future, in the same time as the Alien series. One of the trailers gives away the ending, which isn't a good idea.

The short glimpse of the Predator homeworld was kinda cool though.

Also, the movie was TOO DARK.

Literally, too dark. I had a difficult time figuring out what was going on at several points in the film. I understand the setting, but it just goes overboard IMO.

I really enjoyed AVPR. Whereas the first one was isolated and removed, Requiem brought the fight right to middle-America. Lots of gore, wicked battles and effects, and alien baby eating action. It was awesome. :D

I just bought both the first and second AVP in a box set for $20 at Best Buy!

That is dead-on.

I could barely see the film. The scenes were sometimes as invisible as the script.

Did you guys see this theatrically or are you just talking the DVD version?

This is one movie that needs to be seen on a larger screen. Even the original ALien is pretty dark.

I liked the comic book better.

I liked the first AVP as a curiosity, but quality-wise it made Alien: Resurrection look like Lawrence of Arabia. That's not good.

I just watched the director's cut of Aliens for the first time last night, strangely enough. Man, those first two movies are brilliant. Alien3 isn't bad, but the first two raised the bar so high that anything less than a nuclear explosion of awesomeness would have been a disappointment.
