Excellent call on Mulholland Drive" clay!

Raging Bull
Goodfellas
Forrest Gump
Shawshank Redemption
Field of Dreams

Honorable mentions: Fifth Element, Patton, and Rear Window

That was tough - too many good ones left out.
But those on this list will stop me in my tracks every time - cannot turn away if they come on.

Shawshank definitely right up there.

As a big sci-fi person from a young age, I liked 5th Element but it was just too campy for me to pin a high rating to. Fun flick all the same.

I like these threads because I get reminded of films I really like that have just slipped off my list.

Brazil is a good movie, and one of the strangest I've seen.

Blue Velvet stuck me that way also.

Yeah, it was difficult for me not to put "Holy Grail" in my own list....

That's like asking who's my favorite musician. But it's a challenging question, which I like, so here we go:

1. To Kill a Mockingbird
2. Dr. Strangelove
3. Young Frankenstein
4. The Big Sleep tied with Maltese Falcon
5. Blazing Saddles -"it's twue, it's twue!!"

Like Cooley, I love Sgt. York and The Dirty Dozen. I would also list The Great Escape, The Longest Day and Iwo Jima in terms of war films. Oh yeah, All Quiet on the Western Front (the original).

I have to confess to liking the Rock Hudson/Doris Day movies.

Shit, I completely forgot about the Marx Brothers, Charlie Chaplin, Martin and Lewis and Abbott and Costello (yes, Elvis Costello was a comedian).

Batman: "All virtues are, old chum. Indeed, that's why they're virtues."

This list is subject to change at a whim, and is in no particular order. I would not call these the "best" films I've seen, but they're probably my favorites.

Clerks
Caddyshack
Sargent York (with Gary Cooper)
Pulp Fiction
The Dirty Dozen

Dude, how did I not put The Big Lebowski into this list? I definitely love that film. I'm not sure I can abide that, I may be out of my element.

Sean of the Dead is another film I consider one of my favorites; definitely my favorite movie to have been released in the few years.
