Knicks/Nuggets brawl

Postby ST » Fri Dec 22, 2006 7:01 am

After reading articles about and watching a video of the brawl, it is clear to me that the worst behavior of the night came from Carmeo Anthony. After order had been mostly restored and people were calming down, Anthony sucker-punched a Knicks player and then ran away from the scuffle.

Anthony's cowardly, spineless cheap shot and hasty retreat reminds one of a "heel" in professional wrestling who attacks his opponent from behind with a steel chair. The obvious difference here is that Anthony's despicable act was not part of a storyline. I do not condone Jeffries chasing Anthony down the court with intent to retaliate on behalf of his teammate, but I understand why he did.

That's funny, because I just assumed that Anthony did that as a way of showing his appreciation for all of his hard-working fans and as a way to give us all a holiday gift.

Basketball/Wrestling fusion has a lot to offer and I, for one, am glad that a public person is stepping up to offer it. It's often a problem for Lady Mimicus and I to decide how to spend our entertainment dollars. I love a good wrestling match (what's not to like about those wacky costumes?) and she likes a good b-ball game. Before that always meant that one of us didn't get what he wanted. Not any more!

Sometimes life gives you lemons. This time I am sure it was because God wants us to have lemonaide! I say three cheers for Mr. Anthony!
Under rules planned for one chamber, guns would be allowed on the Assembly floor and in the Assembly viewing galleries, said sources who have been briefed on the plans. That would mean the public could bring guns into the viewing galleries but would still have to adhere to other existing rules, including one that bars the use of still cameras and video cameras.

What should embarrass Anthony for years to come is that his sucker punch was a little girly slap. Good lord, if you're going to do somthing that'll get you a fifteen game suspension, at least walk up and kick the dude in the nuts.

OK, mimicus. The "super-happy, I love everyone" gimmick was funny for a little bit, but it is getting really, really old.

It is old enough that I would actually prefer posts like this one.

How could courtesy and acknowledging the beauty and goodness that is in every one of us ever get old?

I think everyone here would agree that the glass isn't half empty, it's fifty per cent great and getting greater all the time!

p.s. I love your avatar! It looks like two people love-cuddling so super hard! We could all use the lesson of understanding, tolerance, and respect for everyone's viewpoint and values that your avatar conveys so well!

I was worried Jeffries might hurt himself during the melee and end up back on the injury list.

Where is Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest when you need them? They'd show Carmelo how to do it
This is the kind of thing that I think, frankly, separates the men from the boys in leadership. Do you have the testicular virility to make a decision like that, knowing what's coming your way.

Jermaine O'Neal delivered a pretty solid punch to a Detroit "fan"/thug in the 2004 brawl, but he did fall down in the process.

Pretty amusing story regarding that guy. He filed a lawsuit against J.O., saying he had suffered permanent injury from that punch that left him with "...migraine headaches, memory loss, trouble sleeping, inability to socialize, and aversion to bright lights and loud noises."

Then they found out he was making regular trips to Las Vegas. His case was thrown out.

The idiot got exactly what he deserved when O'Neal punched him. You do not run onto the court looking for a fight. He's lucky that O'Neal's first name is not Kermit.

Nice obscure reference.

For folks what don't know, that's 'Kermit' as in Washington, not as in "the frog."
